My London Adventure

What a fucking night!

Finally got on the train at 7.15 after spending the afternoon getting ready and dancing round my front room for what seemed like forever. Don't know what the old couple sat at our table thought of us drinking Vodka & redbull out a cider bottle and talking about drugs & raving till dawn. Ah well, they seemed friendly enough.

Tube ride was painless. Got to the club just before 11 after having to trek all the way round the friggin o2 arena to get in the back. Still, there was free brandy on the way. Hit the cloakroom, hit the bar, dropped, had a cig, hit the dancefloor and.... that's pretty much where we stayed for the next 7 hours! Moved between rooms a couple of times, but fuck me, I havn't danced that much in ages! Now I remember why Hard House is my fave style of music....

Main reason I went was, obviously, to see Lab 4. Last time I saw them was 3 years ago, and they still slay. They're one of those acts who can't seem to put a foot wrong live and it's great to see them back doing what they do best after 3 years of absence. I do have two things to nitpick about though... Firstly, they only had a 45 minute set. Something to do with Anne Savage & Lisa Pinup wanting 15 minutes extra or something....meh, who knows. Secondly, if I had to pick 45 minutes of Lab 4 tracks, I would not have chosen that setlist. Mainly because there was only about 2 Lab 4 tracks in it, with the rest being Adam & Les's solo tracks. Don't get me wrong, tracks like Psycopath and Disco Shit are fucking great tracks by Adam, and they sound even better live, and Les's Redemption is a fucking tune, but as a set finisher? Where was Reformation II, Candyman, Rapture, Perfect Drug?

I'm firmly blaming the short set time for not hearing the tunes I wanted to hear. Still, they did play Requium (Which, by the way sounds fucking AWESOME live) and Concept of Love which are two of my fave Hard Dance tracks, and I've never seen Requim played live before. I don't even know why I'm complaining, they're still fucking gods, they still play some of the best tunes around, and I can't wait till next time!

It's fair to say that by about 5am we were both kinda flagging a bit, but still stayed till 6. Walking out the club into daylight was... painful, to say the least, and getting back to Kings Cross, and indeed the whole train ride home was absoloute hell the state we were in!

All round, it was a fucking great night. The soud system in Matter is really good, the lighting is really impressive and overall it's well laid out. The line-up was well worth the cash. Tidyboys, Anne Savage Vs Lisa Pinup, Alex Kidd, Andy Farley... sadly we missed Proteus since he was on at the same time as Lab 4, but there's always gonna be clashes.

Clubbing in London is really something else and it's been far too long since I last visited a London club. Main complaint overall was the shit drugs we'd managed to pick up between us. Need to find a reliable source for next time.

I seem to have found a new raving partner in Vicky. The girl would not let me leave the dancefloor! She's willing to travel round to different nights, rather than just staynig in Hull, and she's happy to stay till the end and get as wrecked as I do!

Good times!

Our next big night away is Concept @ The Colloseum in London. Adam & Les doing a 2 hour back to back DJ Set..... Can't fucking wait!

Me!

Drag me to hell.....

Last time I mentioned movies, I rambled for ages. All I have to say about drag me to hell is.......

Sam Rami is back. Much as I loved Spiderman, this is what he does best.

And apparently, he's started writing Evil Dead 4.......
